I · The story

A family of winegrowers since 1802

Winegrowers since well before the French Revolution, the Gonets took the leap in 1802: led by Charles Gonet, the family founded its own Champagne house. It was the start of a family adventure that would span several centuries.

Michel Gonet was born in 1935. Considered a miracle from birth, as he was unable to swallow anything because of dysphagia, he regained his taste for life thanks to a sip of champagne.

It was the beginning of a true passion for wine. In 1986, Michel, the eldest of the family, fell under the spell of the Bordeaux region where, surrounded by his three children, Sophie, Charles-Henri and Frédéric, he put all his savoir-faire to work. Today, they carry the Gonet family torch, in Champagne as well as in Bordeaux.

From Champagne to Bordeaux

In Bordeaux, the family farms different terroirs across several appellations: Pessac-Léognan, Graves de Vayres, Bordeaux Supérieur and Bordeaux.

Three châteaux are today regarded as the flagships of Vignobles Michel Gonet. The family also cultivates plots on other exceptional terroirs.

III · The craft

A craft of the senses

Smelling the earth, touching the vines, tasting the grapes… For Sophie, Charles-Henri and Frédéric, being a winegrower is above all a craft of the senses, of emotion and of passion.

It is a farming profession at the mercy of the elements, where patience, humility and strength of conviction become essential to success.

The family fosters biodiversity within its plots through practices aimed at preserving natural spaces: conserving woodlands, maintaining ecological buffer zones and managing water resources responsibly, among others.
