I · The story

A hill in the Maremma

The estate was born in 1999 at Colle Fagiano, in the locality of Polveraia, in the municipality of Scansano, province of Grosseto. The 4 hectares of existing vines were replanted, then new plots brought the vineyard to 11 hectares of Sangiovese, with a clear aim: quality production.

The estate covers 53 hectares, at 300 metres above sea level, between the historic sites of Montorgiali and Montepò. It has committed to a patient search for the character of Maremma Sangiovese, taking the time to learn the expressions of its land, to craft a Morellino di Scansano of marked character.

II · The terroirs

Galestro and sea winds

The galestro soil is moderately calcareous, low in organic matter and in clay. It is particularly suited to Sangiovese, to which most of the vineyard is devoted, alongside a small share of Merlot.

The hills are ventilated by winds from the sea and the mountains, and sheltered by natural hedges of holm oak. This microclimate favours wines that are both full-bodied and fragrant. The vines are tended according to organic farming principles, towards which the estate is moving.
